T Slats Single T Slats are great choice for replacing slats in older facilities. Self-spacing design maintains accurate 1” slot spacing while allowing the opposite end to be cut to length. Slats are 4” in depth with 6” broom finished top. Lintels High strength concrete lintels are key to providing solid support for concrete flooring systems. Manufactured with the same dry cast process as our slats to hold up under the harshest conditions. Hog Slat, Inc. was started in 1969 when our founder, Mr. Billy Herring couldn’t find a suitable flooring for the hog facility he was building. Relying on his ingenuity and experience, he constructed his own • Our slats are machine manufactured with a strong, dry-cast concrete mixture and reinforced with high-tensile steel mats for added durability. • Standard size slats are 4’ wide and available in either 8’ or 10’ lengths • A special 2’ wide slat is available for remodeling projects • Choose 1” slat openings for wean-to-finish, or 1-1/2” slot openings for gestation and breeding • All concrete gang slats are 4” in depth and broom finished with a 5” wide top 8' Length Slat Options • Item # 1214 (2’ wide x 8’ long x 1” slot) • Item # 1218 (4’ wide x 8’ long x 1” slot) • Item # 1222 (4’ wide x 8’ long x 1-1/2” slot) • Item # 1213 (4’ wide x 8’ long solid, no slot openings) 10' Length Slat Options • Item # 1231 (2’ wide x 10’ long x 1” slot) • Item # 1228 (4’ wide x 10’ long x 1” slot) • Item # 1236 (4’ wide x 10’ long x 1-1/2” slot) • Item # 1230 (4’ wide x 10’ long solid, no slot openings) Slats are in our DNA concrete slats which soon caught the attention of other local producers for their quality and function. 3 WWW.HOGSLAT.COM • Heavy–duty Hog Slat farrowing frames are constructed from 3/8” x 2” bar stock. • Nursery frames are constructed from 1/4” x 2” or 3/8” x 2” bar stock. • After fabrication, they are cleaned and powder coated to produce a high quality, baked-on enamel finish. • Many sizes available Floor Frames Floor Frame Legs It all starts with the concrete! Everyone knows less water in a mix formula will produce a stronger concrete. Our batch computers measure the water content of the sand and rock before adding water to formulate a dry-casting mix that results in a HARDER, DENSER finished slat that will last longer in your buildings. • Our dry-cast concrete slat mixture is a ZERO slump formula, compared to a FOUR inch slump mixture that is used by other manufacturers producing wet-cast slats. • It is virtually impossible to work concrete this stiff by hand-troweling, so we use spinning ROTOSCREEDS that strike off the mold and produce one of the key features of our slats; a uniform FLAT top which is easier on your pigs’ feet and joints during their time in your barns. • No wet-cast, hand-troweled concrete slats on the market can consistently produce the uniform FLAT top found on Hog Slat concrete flooring. We Have a Little Different Spin on Slats The water-to-cement ratio refers to the ratio of water weight to cement weight used in a concrete mixture. A lower ratio leads to higher strength and durability but makes the mix difficult to work with and form. For this reason, most other manufacturers’ slats on the market are produced with a wet-cast concrete mixture with a water-cement ratio of 0.5. •A cubic yard of wet cast concrete formulated with 500 pounds of cement contains 250 pounds of water, while a dry cast concrete mixture only contains 195 pounds of water. •As the excess water in a wetcast concrete mixture evaporates during the curing process it creates microscopic pores that ultimately reduce the final strength of the finished slat. Low Cement-Water Ratio Yields Longer Lasting Slats After casting, each of our concrete slats is STEAM CURED in climate-controlled tents. Steam provides the heat necessary for accelerated curing while the moisture prevents stress cracks and shrinkage. Proper steam curing procedures are strictly followed by monitoring the interior environments of the tents to ensure longterm durability of each slat we produce. •In only a few hours, we are able to harden slats that exceed 28-day strengths of normally cured concrete. • Hot, dry weather or cold, wet environmental conditions during manufacturing will not affect the quality of our slats we deliver to your farm. •The rate of temperature gain and the maximum temperature in the curing chamber must be controlled and monitored using accepted industry guidelines and practices. •Failure to do this can result in a shortened life span of the concrete slats due to delayed ettringite formation (DEF), a condition that leads to early deterioration of the concrete when exposed to an environment similar to that found in a hog barn. Steam Cure Reduces Variation Woven Wire Flooring • Wire flooring is unequaled for thorough flushing and self-cleaning. • Available in any size, new super heavy. Standard Farrowing sizes: • 5’ x 7’ • 5’ x 7’6” Standard Nursery sizes: • 4’ x 8’ • 4’ x 10’ Zero Slump 4” Slump
4 SWINE FLOORING The advantages of resistance welding versus MIG welding are: • Weld consistency • Weld strength • Floor cleanliness Resistance Welded • Resistance welded TriDEK floors have an average weld strength of 7,500+ pounds, where traditional MIG welded floors average 5,500 pounds. • Resistance welding produces superior weld consistency and strength compared to MIG welded metal flooring. • Triangle bar shape and consistent resistance welded joints make TriDEK the cleanest metal pig flooring on the market today. Size & Finish Options •TriDEK flooring can be manufactured up to 2.5’ wide and up to 14’ long •Smooth or dimpled surface (no-slip) options •Standard flat deck or traction-break deck top (for sows) designs •Self-supported or non-supported designs available to fit different barn designs TriDEK is manufactured in the US. Triangular surface bars make it the cleanest floor! • It stays cleaner – easiest to clean between groups • Cleaner than the other floors on the market All TRIDEK Flooring is RESISTANCE WELDED for superior strength. Multiple surface options • Smooth or No-Slip Dimpled surface to provide your preferred level of traction. • Standard flat deck or optional traction breaks. TRI Flooring Systems Hog Slat is the only Hog equipment manufacturer to offer resistance welded TriDEK floors. A galvanized triangular bar (TriDEK) flooring system that is used in nursery and farrowing applications. TriDEK floors are manufactured from rolled steel rod which has a tensile strength of 80,000 psi and hardness of 95 Rb. After being cut to length, the finished rolled TriDEK rods are then resistance welded to a 13/32” diameter cross rod. Hog Slat is the only manufacturer to offer resistance welded metal flooring solutions for the swine industry. No-Slip Grip Indentions • .5” x .025” indentions spaced every 5/16” on TriDEK flooring surface • Grip indentions provide additional traction to support sow footing • No-slip is primarily used in farrowing rooms • No-slip grip indentions are optional on all TriDEK flooring styles TriDEK Specifications • Resistance welded TriDEK flooring is stronger than traditional MIG welded metal farrowing floor options. • Triangular Rod Dimensions: 1/3” x 1/3” x 1/3” • Rod Opening Spacing: 3/8” • Finish: Hot-dipped galvanized to ASTM A123/A standards for long lasting protection and resistance to corrosion.
5 WWW.HOGSLAT.COM Self-Supported Self-Supported TriDEK floors have a truss system that eliminates the need for floor frames or other support methods. TriDEK self-supported floors can be used to span up to 12’ without additional support. The standard 30” wide floor has 4 truss supports, but custom floor widths and truss supports are available. Non-Supported Non-Supported TriDEK flooring does not have a truss system in place to support the flooring structure. Non-Supported Tridek requires support beams or frames. Same options are available as the self supported TriDEK model. Traction Breaks • 5” wide by 3/8” deep indentions in the flooring help support the sow while standing and sitting • Traction breaks create a variation in the flooring surface to reduce slippage and possible injury to the sow • TriDEK flooring is available in both support styles, with or without traction breaks installed • Traction breaks are not used in TriDEK nursery flooring applications TRI Flooring TRI Cast and Combo TRI Our cast iron and TriDEK farrowing floor combination creates a sturdy, comfortable environment for sows; which need to be kept cool, and piglets that need to be kept warm and clean as they begin to grow. • A two-piece cast iron center section eliminates multiple joints in the flooring underneath a sow • Sows cannot remove either cast flooring section because her weight is always present on both sections • Self-supporting galvanized TriDEK creep sections lock the two-piece cast into a stable farrowing platform • TriDEK creep flooring provides sure footing for growing pigs and stays cleaner than other flooring options on the market TriDEK floor patches are available in a variety of sizes and widths to replace worn flooring in most common-sized farrowing pen setups. Custom sizes are also available to match your exact flooring layout Custom sizes are available to match your floor! • The TRIDEK Patch allows a producer to cut out the worn wire flooring, then replace it by dropping the TRIDEK Patch in. • Dropping in the TRIDEK Patch is easier installation than other patches. TRIDEK also stays cleaner than wire or cast. Floor Patch TriDEK metal flooring sections are available in many different sizes and designs to provide durable floor solutions in both nursery and farrowing barn facilities. 1. Cut out the section of damaged wire along floor frame supports 2. Insert TRIDEK patch in floor catching the Z Hooks under the support in the front of the cut out 3. Pressing the TRIDEK patch down locks the Z Hooks on the support without additional fasteners 4. Crate anchors hold the TRIDEK patch in place
