Newton Grove, NC USA July 2019 REV A3 3 Ventilation Systems Installation: Installation of the HS583-POT-1IN OR 2IN (POTKIT) assembly will reduce overall travel range of the machine by approximately 3 inches. The POTKIT mounts to the limit rod assembly and limits OPEN travel limit in order to protect the POTKIT assembly from load block movement. Also as a result of the POTKIT being mounted to the limit rod, the last ¼” - ½” of travel, the potentiometer will not rotate therefore resistance value will not change. During installation of the POTKIT, it is important to follow the following directions to ensure proper operation and to prevent damage to the potentiometer kit assembly. Failure to follow these directions could result in permanent damage to the assembly. 1. The POTKIT engages the drive screw of the curtain machine. The potentiometer can rotate 10 turns only therefore the starting point of rotation must be set to start at the limit of the load block travel within the curtain machine. In order to move the load block to its farthest limit, it may be necessary to disconnect cables from the load block or make provisions to allow cables to move outside the normal operating range. The below will instruct to move the load block to position farthest from the motor end of the machine, therefore cables could move out of the machine and become loose. 2. Mark the positions of the limit rod collars that set the operation limits for the particular installation. Measure the distance between the lock collars and record for later. 3. Loosen the top limit rod collar. This will be the collar closest to the exit end of the machine. Slide this collar to far most limit to allow the load block to travel the full distance toward the exit end of the curtain machine. 4. Run the curtain machine manually in the OPEN direction to move the load block toward the cable exit. Run machine until it stops at the upper most limit. 5. DISCONNECT POWER FROM THE CURTAIN MACHINE. Failure to do this could result in the machine starting unexpectedly as the limit rod will be loosen from the limit switch assembly in following steps. WARNING !! - Unexpected curtain machine startup could result in personal injury. 6. Access the limit rod switch assembly at the bottom of the curtain machine. If HS583E series, first remove plastic enclosure cover. Loosen set screw at the limit switch assembly. Limit Switch assembly set screw
