Hog Slat Inc. Newton Grove, NC USA February 2019 6 HSCD-100-SS Chain Disk Soft Start Operation: No adjustments are required. Unit is pre-set from factory for the proper ramp rate the chain disk motor requires to get to full speed. However, if no speed ramp is observed or motor cycles up and down before finally reaching full speed, the adjustment potentiometer should be verified it is in the correct position. Disconnect power from the unit. Remove the front cover of the enclosure. Remove two screws that secure the cover over the soft start unit. With cover removed locate the “Blue” adjustment pot as shown below. Confirm the arrow is pointing upward at 12 o’clock as shown below. Adjustment affects: Turning the Blue adjustment counterclockwise decreases the ramp time of the soft start. Decreasing the ramp rate too far will result in the unit not being effective in soft starting the chain disk system. Turning the Blue adjustment clockwise increases the ramp time. Going beyond the 12 o’clock setting too far may allow the motor to speed cycle before coming up to full speed. Speed cycle is when the motor will speed up slowly just fast enough to switch out the start capacitor, slow down and switch back in the start capacitor. This speed up, slow down and speed up again is an unwanted condition and should be avoided. Remove (2) Phillips head screws from cover Adjustment pot should be pointing straight up.
