Minimum Ventilation Checklist for Winter Preparation Fans: RPM per Factory: Verify actual RPM against factory specifications. Belt Condition: Is the belt riding above the edge of the pulley? Pulley Wear: Are the pulleys worn out (V-shaped or U-shaped channel)? Bearing Condition: Is there any movement or noise in the bearings? Direct Drive Check: Is there any play in the prop or grinding noise in the motor? Dust Check: Is the housing and shutter reasonably free of dust? Fan Cone Integrity: Is any part of the fan cone missing? Pit Lid Gaps: Are there any gaps around the pit lid? Pressure Test: Do they pass the pressure test? (1 cfm/sqft of floor space should equal 0.10+ sp) Inlets: Airflow Check: Does air follow the wall/ceiling or hit and stop? Airflow Adjustment: Can inlets be shut in other areas to create better airflow where needed? Movement: Do they move freely and shut completely? (Check for dust/moisture/rust issues) Curtain Machine Maintenance: Has the curtain machine been greased and are the pulleys rolling correctly? Cable and String Condition: Is there fraying or noticeable wear on the cable or inlet strings? Heaters: Startup Check: Do all heaters start as they should? Cleaning: Have the heaters been cleared of any dust? Temperature Probe Placement: Are the probes working and positioned to avoid getting too hot or cold? For Brooders: Emitter Condition: Are the emitters free of soot and dust? Orifice Clearance: Have the orifices been cleared recently? (Follow manufacturer’s suggestions)
