Hog Slat Inc. Newton Grove, NC USA June 2026 15 Feed Systems STEP #8 Install chain in the desired direction. Properly tense the chain and connect sections of chain using chain breaking tool. Once the chain has been routed around the feed system, attach a 2 ton rated cable puller to the chain as illustrated in the photo. 1) With the shear pin removed, thighten the chain until the chain is slightly streahed and equally taut throughout the feed system. 2) Slowly release the tension on the chain allowing the chain to rest in a pre-steached position. Some level of recoil should be observed. 3) Based on the total chain loop length, remove the number of chain links as indicated in the chart below. 4) Once the links are removed, tighted the chain and connect the ends with the chain breaking tool. 5) Remove the cable puller and re-install the shear pin. 6) To confirm the chain is properly installed, check the chain tension mid-point between the hopper and corner. After several days of operation, the chain tension may need to be adjusted by removing chain links.
