HSMANUAL-255 February 2026 4|Page Classic Pullet Pan Feeding System Planning Guidelines Birds Per Pan Recommendations An approximate number of birds per pan can be derived from this feed space required by the integrator. Based on a pan diameter of 13-inches, the calculation method is as follows: ( 13” X 3.1416 ) = Birds Per Pan Inches Of Feed Space Per Bird Choosing Feed Tube - Feeder Spacing The manufacturer recommendation for optimum feeder spacing is 17” between feeders, which can be obtained by using 4 feeders spacing on 10 ft. feed tubing. If adequate barn space is not available for this spacing, 4 feeders spacing on 9 ft. feed tubing is also acceptable for use. Part Number Description HSPFT175-410 Poultry Feed Tube - 10 ft, 4 feeder spacing (recommended) HSPFT175-810 Poultry Feed Tube - 10 ft, 4 feeder spacing w/ 4 Kwik Start holes (recommended) HSPFT175-409 Poultry Feed Tube - 9 ft, 4 feeder spacing (optional) HSPFT175-809 Poultry Feed Tube - 9 ft, 4 feeder spacing w/ 4 Kwik Start holes (optional) System Speed and Length When installing a feedline drive unit for use in pullets, the manufacturer recommends the use of a high-speed gearbox (range of 550 RPM – 700 RPM) for rapid feed distribution. When using a high-speed gearbox, it is essential to effectively manage auger tension for smooth and proper operation. Refer to Auger Installation and Stretch on page 8 for instruction and guidelines. Part Number Description HS9022D10-P Drive Unit, 3/4 HP w/ 693 RPM Gearhead HSGR010 Gearhead, 693/573 RPM at 60/50 Hz w/ 5/8 Output Shaft (recommended) The maximum recommended length of pullet feedline using a high-speed gearbox is 300 feet from drive unit to anchor bearing. It is recommended to split the feedline at center house when the feedline length needs to extend beyond 300 feet. NOTICE: The above recommendation by the manufacturer should in no way suggest a guarantee of performance or a product warranty beyond the warranty stated within the Hog Slat Limited Warranty section of this manual.

HSMANUAL-255 February 2026 5|Page Classic Pullet Pan Feeding System Planning Guidelines (continued) Capacity and Choosing Settings Though the number of pans placed in the barn is derived from a target of birds per pan, the capacity of those pans is equally important. Inches of available feed space is often common among manufacturers in the poultry market, though the capacity of those feeders will vary greatly. Knowing your feeder capacity during the planning phase provides a better expectation of what feed distribution will look like during the flock. Having too much capacity per feeder translates to reduced distribution that other efforts like indexing can’t fix. Feeder Capacity is dependent on the non-flood level setting and the presence or absence of a Restrictor Cone. The below table shows approximate feed capacities based on a nominal feed density of 40 lbs./ft³. More accurate weights can be calculated by taking the density of the feed intended for use, dividing it by 40 lbs./ft³, and then multiplying it by the table value for a specific feed level setting. Once the needed capacity per feeder is determined, it may fall in a range where with and without a restrictor cone overlap. In this case, it is recommended to use the restrictor cone at a higher setting rather than use no restrictor cone at a lower setting. This will shift more of the feeder capacity to within the pan itself and make for more immediate feed presentation. HSMANUAL-255 February 2026 6|Page Classic Pullet Pan Feeding System Installation Guidelines Feed Tube Installation During installation of feed tube, rib alignment will change per the indexing guide chart as the line is assembled. Indexing hanger PN# HS1189 is used to hang indexed feed lines. The notches within the hanger directly correspond to the notches on the feeder. One hanger per feed tube should be used. After the feed tube is assembled and hung per the indexing chart, the feeders should be placed on the feed tube to match the hanger on each individual tube. If indexed and assembled appropriately, all feeders will hang straight down for uniform feed distribution within the pans.

Index recommendations are for both 9’ and 10’ tubes.

HSMANUAL-255 February 2026 8|Page Classic Pullet Pan Feeding System Auger Installation and Stretch CAUTION CAUTION when installing flex auger as improper installation practices COULD result in minor personal injury or product or property damage. Auger under tension can spring if tension is released. Please disconnect electrical power to the connected drive unit before working with auger. Model 44 flex auger should be installed using safe installation methods per the following steps: 1. PUSH AUGER INSIDE FEED TUBE – This task should be completed with two personnel, one to uncoil the auger and one to slowly feed auger in the tube while inspecting auger to ensure no kinks are present. 2. ATTACH AUGER TO DRIVE UNIT – Once auger reaches the other end of the feed tube, attach auger to anchor bearing to secure one end of the auger. 3. PRE-STRETCH AUGER – From the end opposite of the drive unit where anchor bearing is to be installed, pull auger until tension is felt. With tension on the auger and all slack removed from the system, slowly release tension until the auger is resting in a relaxed state. Mark the auger where it exits the outlet tube of the weldment. 4. STRETCH AUGER – From the relaxed state, pull the auger under tension to remove 8” [200mm] per 100 ft [30m] of auger past the mark. Use vise grips to clamp the auger and hold under tension so this section of auger can be removed and that the anchor bearing can be installed. 5. INSTALL ANCHOR BEARING – With vise grips still clamped to the auger holding tension, install the anchor bearing. Pull anchor bearing to relieve and remove the vise grips. Slowing release tension until the anchor bearing seats in the weldment tube. Use a pipe clamp to secure the anchor bearing to the weldment. 6. AUGER RUN-IN PROCEDURE – Once system is fully assembled and properly stretched, the auger run-in procedure should be completed before adding feed to the system. Run the system dry with no feed for 5-10 minutes to remove any burns that may exist. After dry run-in is complete, feed may be added and auger used under normal operation.

HSMANUAL-255 February 2026 9|Page Classic Pullet Pan Feeding System Feeder Assembly Instructions Step #1: If using the HS8000-18 Restrictor, push it upward inside the HS8000-19* cone bottom. Be sure that locking tabs snap in the appropriate slot as shown. If you are not using a Restrictor Cone, please proceed with the next step. Step #2: Slide the HS8000-19* Cone Bottom up inside the HS8000-21 Adjuster until the flood window is completely closed. Step #3: Slide the assembled cones up into the chosen grille. Be sure to properly align the small arrow on the adjuster with the desired number for the non-flood feed level setting.

HSMANUAL-255 February 2026 10|Page Classic Pullet Pan Feeding System Step #4: If using the HS8000-24 collar for locking out the flood window function, install by simply placing it over the cone so that it rests on top edge of the adjuster. If not, proceed to next step. Step #5: Install the HS8000-17 Slide Shutoff by sliding it through the designated slot until the small retention pops through to the side edge of the cone as shown. 1.75” Ribbed Feed Tube 45mm Smooth Feed Tube Step #6 (On Ribbed Tube): Install the HS8000-22 Anti-Rotation Device on the feed tube by placing the tube rib in the appropriate slot per the indexing guide. The slots should be facing the direction of the feed hopper when installed. Step #6a (On Smooth Tube): If installing HS8000-22 Anti-Rotation Device on smooth 45mm tubing, snap device adjacent to the feed tube hole. Device can be secured to the pipe using a size SAE 36 hose clamp (PN# HSHC-36) over the shown hose clamp indent of HS8000-22.

HSMANUAL-255 February 2026 11|Page Classic Pullet Pan Feeding System Step #7: Install the feeder assembly on the pipe so that the Anti-Rotation Device nests inside the cone bottom slot as shown and the feed tube hole is centered over the cone bottom. Step #8: Slide the HS8000-21 Cone Top in place from the side until the center tab locks in place as shown. Cone Top should now be secure from sliding side-to-side. Step #9: Begin installing the pan by orienting the pan upside down and placing the hook on the grille as shown so it can then swing in the downward position.

HSMANUAL-255 February 2026 12|Page Classic Pullet Pan Feeding System Step #10: Fold pan under the grille and twist until the hook is touching the slide stop as shown. NOTE: You should hear an audible “CLICK” when pan is locked in place and secured. Not twisting until the audible “CLICK” is heard can result in pans falling open during use.
